A declaration of conformity is easy to lose. It stays in a folder ashore, it travels with the agent, or it disappears somewhere between the quay and the ship. It is usually missed at the worst possible moment — when an inspector asks for it.
Registration is intended to prevent that. Once the equipment is registered to your vessel, its documentation is linked to a record we can retrieve on request, and where the product plate includes a digital access point, the record can also be opened directly from the ladder.

You do not have to register anything to obtain a document you are missing.
If you simply need a copy of a declaration of conformity or a certificate, contact us. Once we can identify the equipment and confirm your connection to it, we will provide the document.
Registration is an optional service, not a condition of receiving documentation.
What you need before you start
Two pieces of information make registration straightforward:
The serial number from the ladder plate
It has the form NNNN/YY — four digits, a slash and the year, for example 0439/26. It is stamped on the metal plate attached to the ladder.
If the plate is unreadable, leave the field empty. We can often identify the equipment from the vessel details and our production records.
The vessel’s IMO number
Seven digits. It stays with the ship even if the vessel is renamed, reflagged or sold, which is why we ask for it instead of relying on the vessel’s name.
Step by step
Open the registration page
Go to drewilentership.com/register/, or scan the QR code on the ladder plate where one is present — it opens the same page with the serial number already completed.
If your supplier sent you a link, use theirs. It identifies the company that supplied the equipment, so their details appear on the page and they remain recorded as your supplier.
Say who is completing the form
At the top there are two options — The vessel and The supplier. If you are on board or in the technical office, leave it on The vessel.
Enter the vessel name and IMO number
The IMO field accepts seven digits. The number includes a check digit, so the page detects many common typing errors before anything is sent.
Confirm the serial number and add the port
If you arrived from a QR code or a supplier link, the serial number is already filled in — check that it matches the plate on the ladder in front of you.
The port field is optional. It helps us understand where the equipment is currently located.
Leave a contact and submit
Company, your name and an e-mail address. The confirmation is sent to that address. Then press Register the vessel.
Please provide contact details you are authorised to share.
What happens next
You receive a confirmation by e-mail. The equipment is then linked to your vessel in our records, which allows us to identify it quickly when documentation is requested later, and to reach the right people if a product notice or correction ever applies to it.
The company that supplied the equipment remains recorded as your supplier. Commercial enquiries about the equipment — replacements, spare steps, an additional ladder — are referred to them. Registration is a record of equipment, not a change of supplier.
Checking a ladder without registering it
If you only need to confirm that a ladder is genuinely ours and see what its certificate covers, use drewilentership.com/check/. It returns the product, the equipment category and the date of manufacture. No account and no registration are required.
The check requires both the serial number and the vessel’s IMO number. It does not display the registered vessel, the customer identity, supplier information or any contact details.

Frequently asked questions
Does registration cost anything?
No. There is no fee, no account and no obligation, and it does not affect the commercial terms of anything you have already purchased.
We do not know the serial number — the plate is damaged.
Register anyway and leave the serial field empty. With the vessel name and IMO number we can often identify the equipment from our production records. If the plate itself is unreadable, tell us — an unreadable plate is worth resolving before your next inspection, and your supplier can advise on a replacement.
The ladder was supplied by a chandler, not by you directly. Does that matter?
No. Register it in the same way. The chandler remains recorded as your supplier and remains your point of contact for commercial matters.
Who can see our data?
The vessel name and IMO number are used to link the equipment to your ship and to contact you about it. They are not published on the website, and the certificate-checking page does not reveal which vessel a serial number belongs to.
How is registration data used?
Registration data is used to maintain equipment records, provide documentation, verify product details, support regulatory compliance and communicate essential product or safety information. It is not used to send unrelated marketing without an appropriate legal basis. Further information is available in our Privacy Policy.
Can somebody else register the equipment for us?
Yes. Your supplier or agent can complete the form on your behalf by selecting The supplier at the top of the page. The resulting record is the same.
What if the QR code on the plate is worn out?
Open the registration page directly and type the serial number by hand.
Register the ladder once, and stop chasing its paperwork
